MERRY CHRISTMAS! (Love: Saturday)

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but should have everlasting life.” [John 3:16] “Tiny heart whose blood will save us, welcome to our world.” [Chris Rice]

Merry Christmas!  This is the day we have waited for!  A joyful time - the culmination of the hope, peace, joy, and love that we have reflected upon for the last month!  It all ties together in the person of Jesus Christ.

Because of His great love God sent Jesus to earth to so that he could live a sinless life and become a perfect, acceptable sacrifice on our behalf.  Jesus paid the price for our sin that we could not pay ourselves.  When Jesus died in our place, and then rose from the grave, conquering death, He made a way for us to be in Heaven one day.  Sin cannot enter Heaven, but because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we can stand before God forgiven – as white as snow.

In Christ we find our joy and our peace.  “And the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”  [Galatians 5:22-23]

And because God is loving, and because His promises are as good as if they have already happened, we can hope unswervingly, looking forward to the day that Jesus will return, not as a baby, but as a king!

Read this verse and hear the loving, pursuing voice of God, “I go to prepare a place for you…I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am, there you may be also.”  [John 14:2-3]  Christ is coming for us, that we may be where He is!  As you celebrate today, look forward as much as you look back!  Look to the day when we will see our Savior-King Jesus face to face.

What a great thing to celebrate this Christmas morning: the person of Jesus, in whom we find our hope, peace, joy, and love.

O Come All Ye Faithful Joyful and triumphant, O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem. Come and behold Him, Born the King of Angels;

O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

O Sing, choirs of angels, Sing in exultation, Sing all ye citizens of heaven above. Give to our Father glory in the Highest;

O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, Born this happy morning, O Jesus! To Thee be all glory giv'n. Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing;

O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

O, come let us adore Him today!
