Exhortation

I read this post this evening and HAD to share it. I love reading about something that my own experience validates.  Something that doesn't just "sound" true, or seem true theoretically - but something that has been proved over and over in my life.   That's why I enjoy reading through the book of Proverbs so much - the wisdom therein is true whether you are a Christian or not.  It just is.

"Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down." [Proverbs 26:20] Duh.

"If a man loudly blesses his neighbor early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse." [Proverbs 27:14] In my house, "early" is 8:00.

"He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty." [Proverbs 28:19] You don't work, you don't eat.  Duh, again.

"He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm." [Proverbs 13:20] Or as my momma used to say, "Beware the company you keep; show me your friends and I'll show you your future."

"The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender." [Proverbs 22:7] For all my brothas and sistas out there still paying student loans...

Okay, that is not the point of this post.   The point is this:  I've found the short passages in this link (particularly the second one) to be unequivocally true in my life.  Passing it along is my way of saying "Amen!"

"Memorizing Scripture: Why and How"

Enjoy!  And be encouraged to raise the bar concerning this particular discipline.  It will change. your. life.

Also, just wondering - do you have favorite Proverbs?  Favorite any-verses?  That have been proved over and over and over again in your life and in the world around you?
